DELTA MINING AND EXPLORATION CORP. APPOINTS
NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Lewisburg,
KY.--(WIRE SERVICE)—April 26, 2004— Delta Mining and
Exploration Corp. (OTC: DMXC) is excited to announce the appointment
of Dr. Barry Rayment, former President of Bema Gold Corp., as its new
Chief Executive Officer.
Dr.
Rayment is a mining geologist with 32 years experience in base and
precious metal exploration and development. His talents have taken
him throughout Europe, Central America, South America, the United
States and some countries of the former Soviet Union. Dr. Rayment
obtained his Ph.D. in Mining Geology at the Royal School of Mines,
London.
Formerly an exploration manager for Gold Fields Mining and Amselco,
Vice President of Glamis Gold and President of Bema Gold Corporation,
he is currently President of Mining Assets Corporation, a private
company providing consulting services to the mining industry, based in
Laguna Beach, California.
During his tenure at Bema Gold, Dr. Rayment was responsible for the
acquisition, exploration and development of the Refugio Gold Mine in
Northern Chile operated by Bema Gold/Kinross Gold Corporation and of
the Cerro Casale Gold/Copper Deposit in Northern Chile currently under
joint venture with Placer Dome. Furthermore, during his tenure with
Gold Fields Mining he was instrumental in the discovery of the
Mesquite Gold Deposit in California. While with Arian Resources
Corporation Dr. Rayment played a key role in the exploration and
development of the Julietta Gold Deposit in the Russian Far East, now
in production by Bema Gold.
He
is presently a Director of Bema Gold Corporation, Arizona Star
Resource Corporation, European Minerals Corporation and Latin American
Copper plc.
Dr. Rayment’s
appointment will provide Delta with added credibility and positions
the company right alongside its larger, more recognized peers in the
industry. Dr. Rayment will also provide the strategic direction
necessary to manage all Delta’s exploration activities as well as the
day-to-day operations. Chief Financial Officer, Robert Mathews,
commented that “Dr Rayment’s experience at both grassroots level and
producing mines will give Delta the expertise to mange their
properties while lending the credibility to attract some of the larger
participants in the diamond sector”.
