Delta Mining and
Exploration Releases Revised Apex Geosciences' Post Field Memo
MISSOULA, MT -- (MARKET WIRE) --
02/06/08 -- After receiving numerous inquiries regarding the
significance of the Apex field memo, posted on Delta's website
following sample collection for macro-diamond analysis from Delta's
Homestead property, Montana, Delta Mining and Exploration Corp. (PINKSHEETS:
DMXC) has now posted a more detailed report from Apex. The full
updated field report can be viewed at
www.deltamine.com/bulksample.
As with the original memo posted
January 15, 2008, the report provides general background information
regarding the Homestead property and the samples taken. The updated
report, however, also presents a summary discussion of significance
of published petrographic and indicator mineral chemistry data with
respect to the diamond potential of the Homestead kimberlite. For
example, the Apex report indicates that to date two igneous bodies
within Delta's 7,554-acre Montana Properties, the Three Buttes and
Homestead bodies, have been classified as bona-fide kimberlites.
Apex also notes that the results of indicator mineral analysis
previously conducted by the United States Geological Survey reveal
between 2% to 12% of garnet xenocrysts recovered from Homestead are
G10 low-calcium pyropes. Apex states that studies have shown "G10
garnets show a positive correlation with the presence of diamond in
South African kimberlites."
Some additional observations made by
Apex in this report include their view that "the potential for new
kimberlite discoveries in the Grassrange area is considered high"
and that based on the results of mini-bulk sampling Apex agrees with
previous work which indicates "the Homestead kimberlite represents a
world class mantle xenolith locality."
Although Apex's preliminary analysis
of the property does not guarantee the presence of diamonds
according to CEO Brett Rodli "the initial analysis by Apex is very
encouraging and the Company is excited about the future potential."
Currently, the samples taken this
past month are being held at the analytical laboratory's storage
facility, results will be released as they become available.
