Delta Mining Announces Grassrange District Exploration Update

Missoula, Montana - October 2, 2008 Delta Mining and Exploration Corp, ("Delta", OTC: DMXC) reports that results from analysis of the mini-bulk sample collected from Delta's Homestead kimberlite pipe in Montana, together with a report and recommendations for further work from Apex Geoscience Limited ("Apex"), have now been received by Delta  The DMS processing and picking for diamonds was carried out at the Saskatchewan Research Council's Geoanalytical Laboratories.

Although the results show that no macro-diamonds were recovered from the sample, Apex had previously determined that the Homestead kimberlite does contain a favourable assemblage of diamond indicator minerals. Their presence, however, does not guarantee the intrusion will be diamondiferous.

Apex comments that kimberlites and to a lesser degree, lamproites, lamprophyres and alluvial deposits are the source of economic diamond deposits worldwide.  Typically, throughout the world, kimberlite fields, where the craton is favourable for diamond preservation, include both barren and diamondiferous intrusions.

Apex has expressed the opinion that the potential for new kimberlite discoveries in the Grassrange area is high.  They also point to the Three Buttes kimberlite as being a target of interest and recommend sampling and analysis for the presence of micro-diamonds.   Further recommendations include the use of geophysical surveys (magnetic and electromagnetic) in order to search for the presence of buried kimberlite pipes in the district.  In addition, Delta is identifying and evaluating new  target areas outside of the Grassrange District.

Delta management is currently reviewing the recommendations above and will announce further exploration plans in the near future.
